There is a high school dropout epidemic in America. Each year, almost one third of all public high school students – and nearly one half of all Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans – fail to graduate from public high school with their class.
Dropouts are much more likely than their peers who graduate to be unemployed, living in poverty, receiving public assistance, in prison, on death row, unhealthy, divorced and single parents with children who drop out from high school themselves.
Nearly half of high school dropouts say that classes were not interesting. Most said they weren't motivated or inspired to work hard. More and more educators are realizing the importance of motivation in order for learning to take place.
The founders of the Big Muddy Challenge are an active bunch. From 5K’s to marathons, an adventure dash to the toughest mud run, we’ve done it. And, then something happened… WE HAD KIDS.
Our time became less free & we saw little to blend our expanding families into our active lifestyles. The typical fun run was over too fast and forgotten before the next day. Adult only races were great but we wanted an event DESIGNED for us to do WITH our families.
The Big Muddy Challenge was created to share the endurance experience with parents and their children. Families utilize each-others strengths and spirits to reach the finish line.
The goal of each event is to provide a priceless family bonding activity along with an exciting new way to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship and a sense of accomplishment. We guarantee a fun, muddy and memorable day for years to come!
Through the camaraderie and accountability when working out in a group setting - improving endurance, strength and physical appearance becomes a more enjoyable process!
Benefits of group exercise include:
Variety in your workout
Camaraderie between participants
Higher endorphin output
Better performance in classes due to more regular attendance
